After the valuable (w)aardewerk kick-off meeting at the Fries Museum / Keramiekmuseum Princessehof and the first Sustainable Ceramics Inspiration Day at the Circular Warenhuis Leiden, we are now organizing a follow-up event for ceramics professionals and interested parties.
An afternoon full of inspiration, knowledge sharing and networking around sustainability in the ceramics sector.
We’ll start the afternoon with a welcome and brief introduction. After that, we’ll move into round table sessions, guided by Mijke Anink, Marieke van Heesbeen and Elena Genesio. You’ll take part in one of the following three discussions:
Building a living ceramics community
What shape could this community take? Think of a digital platform, an open database, or in-person gatherings. What form helps us stay connected and engaged?Communicating value and process in sustainable ceramics
How can we make the invisible work and underlying ethics visible? How do we communicate these aspects?Sharing knowledge and recipes
What do we give and what do we receive in return? How do we ensure reciprocity when sharing techniques, materials, and processes?
After a short break, Elena Genesio will give a talk on Clay Archives, an open-source materials archive documenting local clay, recipes, and applications. The project builds a shared knowledge base around local clay, enriched by contributions from makers, researchers, and designers.
In a second round table session, we’ll delve deeper into the earlier discussions and formulate concrete next steps. The afternoon ends with shared insights and a closing reflection, followed by drinks and time to connect informally.
