Online Workshop: Dorset Button with Katja van der Steen (EN)

The Dorset button is handmade and was very popular between 1622 and 1850. Over the years, the button was made less and less, leading the Heritage Crafts Association to put the Dorset technique on the list of endangered crafts in 2017. You learn to make your own button, starting with a small ring, a thread and a needle. Katja tells you about the history of the Dorset button and the countless possibilities there are to make a beautiful personal detail on your clothing. You will receive four rings by post. Register here!  Katja van der Steen is very interested in old techniques in the field of textiles and handicrafts and can tell a lot about it. She is currently following the Meester Coupeur course with a specialization in men's clothing. Date: Saturday May 22, 2021 10.30 – 12.30 H.
