Yoon Shun

Yoon Shun reveals the relationship between ‘senses’ and ‘images’ according to the properties and forms of materials. This project is a design-research into the relations between language and object. People use language as a tool for communication and to enable themselves to see images. They identify the image of an unfamiliar object with familiar images that they already experienced, and this perception gives a definition to the object. In this project Shun translates consonants in shapes and vowels in colour. With this newly created alphabet, he can transform words into 3-D shapes and ‘rewrite’ the form of existing objects, like a chair.
