Master class WEAVING!

Master class WEAVING! 21 - 23 October 2016 Nederlands Openluchtmuseum

Weaving is one of the oldest techniques in the world, it is used from Ghana and Iran to South America, and is surrounded by many stories and myths. Also our own heritage is associated with the weaving technique through the use of specific patterns and colors. In the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum (Dutch Open Air Museum) you can find many examples, and there is a functioning handweaving workshop where people are working on a daily basis. Crafts Council Nederland and Dutch weaving association Weefnetwerk (bindpunt-oost) organise a three-day master class in the picturesque Houtloods (Wood Hangar) in the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem on Friday 21, Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 October. These days you will learn the basic techniques of weaving by renowned teachers Marleen Jongen and Anneke Kersten. You will become familiar with the various techniques and you will make tests and experiments with different materials. At the end of the master class you will go home with a sample book full of studies and theory. There is room for up to 10 participants.
