OER
Our drinking water goes through an entire production process before it reaches our very own tap; the groundwater is pumped and filtered. One of the residues that is processed is naturally formed iron oxide-containing water. This material is mainly characterised by the deep red colour that designers Jetske Visser, Kirstie van Noort and Lotte de Raadt are fascinated by. And thus it doesn’t come unexpected that the designers show the purification process of water on a small scale. Their goal, however, is not to purify the water, but to harvest the iron ore and work with the qualities of this residual. The cloudy groundwater is filtered, leaving a rusty powder at the end. The three designers use this colour pigment as a basis for colouring different material. Colouring porcelain is their first conclusion.
