Expert meeting: ‘The future of the creative crafts’

The fields of economy, design, culture, education and heritage are the stepping-stones for future-proof crafts: for the emerging industry, for learning with the hands, for preservation of heritage and for innovation. All parties that play a roll in these domains, could work together to make the crafts future-proof.

On the 17th of September 2015 Crafts Council Nederland organized an expert meeting as the first initiative to build an infrastructure together. Speakers presented the importance of the creative crafts from their own perspective in an inspiring manner.

Speakers were:
– Marion Poortvliet, Crafts Council Nederland
– Jan Jaap Knol, director of The Cultural Participation Fund (FCP)
– Linda van Fliert, Policy Advisor Ministry of Education, Culture and Science
– Stephan Warnik, director Zuiderzeemuseum
– David Derksen, maker-designer and teacher at Willem de Kooning Academy
– Roy Spit, director Qredits
