Beatrice Waanders

Beatrice Waanders studied at WDKA and worked as an interior architect for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2008 she made a career switch and started her felt label The Soft World. She makes large-scale felting work from local old sheep breeds for interior and architecture. Happy Sheep is an XL rug with the color marks of the ram still in the wool. This parts of a sheepfleece is normally thrown away as worthless wool unsuitable for dyeing. Beatrice Waanders thinks this wool is a natural part of the way we keep sheep and gives it a prominent place. Sustainable as the color is already there and we don’t have to give the wool an extra dye bath.
