Jules Henderikus ten Velde

Jules Henderikus ten Velde graduated at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) this year with his well-received collection ‘Nature’s Bride’. The collection tells the story of a young woman, longing to flee from modern society and the harsh city life into nature. In the first part of his collection, Ten Velde uses so-called ‘man-made’ materials, which are being replaced by natural materials in the second part. Such as raffia, palm-leaves and naturally dyed cottons. The yellow cotton flowers are dyed with kurkuma and the under gown is made of linen. To comb the raffia he put his whole family to work and finally spent over 140 hours in creating the dress.
