Isaac Monté

Isaac Monté has a fascination for unusual materials and the urge to manipulate these materials. He has made birdhouses from cigarette filters (Filter Factory), roadkill fur masks (Les Sauvages), a series of manipulated pig hearts (The Art of Deception) and lamps and vases made of remaining meat from supermarkets (The Meat Project).

Nowadays, contemporary alchemist Monté researches how he can grow stalagmites in his studio. During his many experiences, Monté discovered how he can influence the shape of the crystals. He also explores the possibilities within painting techniques, pigments and dyes to change the colour of the crystals. This resulted in a serie of interior objects. Each object is unique and can be seen as a collaboration between the designer and nature. But Monté reaches further. His next challenge is growing insects out of crystals, which will be presented during HOW&WOW.
